Third Grade Weekly Update
Dear Parents,
I hope you are enjoying the beginning of the holiday season! My family recently put up our tree and have enjoyed its smell ever since. In class, we began our first novel study on “The One and Only Ivan.” It’s a story rich in vocabulary and visualization opportunities. I’m sure you noticed we had a different homework format this week as well. Students were very excited to be able to complete an assignment that piqued their interest and had meaning for them.
Here are some dates to plan for:
- Mon-Friday, Dec 2-6 – Book Fair
- Friday, Dec 6 – St. Nicholas’ Feast Day
- Sunday, Dec 8 – Breakfast with Santa, 10 a.m. -12 noon, O’Brien Hall (reserve your tickets today)
- Tuesday, Dec 10 – Free Dress for December B-days
- Thursday, Dec 19 – Christmas Concert, 7:00 p.m. Students’ Attendance Required
- Friday, Dec 20 – Noon Dismissal/ Share & Care Closed after school – Christmas Free Dress
- Dec 21 – Jan 3 Christmas Break: NO SCHOOL / No Share and Care

Lastly, we still need drivers and chaperones for next week’s scheduled field trip. Currently, we only have enough seats to accommodate 18 people; we need enough for around 36. To provide context: we need seats for all 24 students plus 2 adults in each car. The exact seats depend on the vehicle’s size and how many it can transport. I will need to cancel if we do not have enough drivers and chaperones by Monday.
