Preschool Weekly Update – Week of 4/21

Father, the resurrection of Your Son
has given us new life and renewed hope.
Help us to live as new people
in pursuit of Christian perfection.
Grant us wisdom to know what we must do,
the will to want to do it,
the courage to undertake it,
the perseverance to continue to do it,
and the strength to complete it. We ask this in the name of
Jesus, your risen son, our Lord. Amen

Dear Preschool Families,

On behalf of Miss Rosie and myself we wish you all a safe and blessed Easter break. I will post our 4/28 update next week. Reminder that tomorrow your child/ren will only need a snack and water bottle.

Peace, Ms. Grace and Miss Rosie

Preschool Weekly Update – Week of 4/14

“Heavenly Father, as we walk through Holy Week, open our hearts to witness Your Son’s sacrifice anew. In the noise of daily tasks and worldly concerns, help us pause and turn our thoughts toward Calvary,”.

Hello,

Our bee curriculum has come to an end and this week we will start our butterfly study. We hope that the children have been sharing the fascinating bee science that they have learned.

LENTEN JOURNEY: Our lenten journey has lead us to Holy Week. The children watched an age appropriate “Stations of the Cross”video this morning. Our Good Deeds chart is filling in and we hope to have a full chart by Holy Thursday.

FUN RUN!! Please read all the “Fun Run” emails from the school office. This is the only school wide event that Preschool participates in. It would be great to have 100% participation.

Have a great weekend!

Peace, Ms. Grace and Miss Rosie

Preschool Weekly Update – Week of 4/7

“The earth is entrusted to our care, yet continues to belong to God,” -Pope Francis

Hello Preschool Parents,

Gratitude is the school’s April virtue focus. For a 4 year old, this can be a singular focus on “toys”. I always have to chuckle when the preschooler goes into great detail about a toy. This morning during circle time we were discussing how grateful we were for God’s great creation, the bee. This month’s curriculum is rich in science and the gift and beauty of nature.

We hope you were able to visit, The Celebration of the Arts. The preschool class received high praise for their Picasso portraits. Well done Preschool!

Have a great weekend.

Peace, Ms. Grace and Miss Rosie

Preschool Weekly Update – week of 3/31

” I’m convinced that the truest act of courage, the strongest act of manliness, is to sacrifice ourselves for others in a totally nonviolent struggle for justice.” – Cesar Chavez

Hello parents,

We have completed our month long study of desert life. Your child’s portfolio is going home today. Please take a moment to review some of their art work and projects. When we return on Tuesday, we will dive into the wonderful world of “Bees and Butterflies.” See the family newsletter going home today in your family envelope.

LENTEN JOURNEY: Our Lenten chart is showing some new color and filling up. We know that the preschoolers are seeing their progress. We have been asking, in prayer, for the Holy Spirit to help us make good choices during our time at Preschool.

The Celebration of the Arts, April 2-3 @ 3:00pm-6:00pm, in O’Brian Hall, will showcase artwork from all the students at SPN. Please take sometime to drop by and admire your children’s artwork along with the artwork from our very talented SPN student body.

Enjoy your weekend!

Preschool Weekly Update – Week of 3/24

“God, may Your light guide our days, and your spirit bring us peace. Amen.”

Hello parents,

Please congratulate your preschooler for a week of perfect line formation coming and going from the classroom. We had SPN teachers and staff notice and compliment them. This shows the growth in their self-regulation domain. Well done!

We will end our month long desert exploration with studying the night life of the desert. Your child’s portfolio will go home on Friday. We hope you enjoyed the spring sheep as much as Miss Rosie and I had guiding the preschoolers with this project.

LENTEN JOURNEY: Our Lenten chart is filling up nicely. This week and next we are focusing on “kindness.” We are fasting from morning dance videos. The children are learning how words can hurt as much or even more than hitting someone. Kind words for peers, parents and teachers is our focus.

Have a great weekend!

Peace, Ms Grace and Miss Rosie

Preschool Weekly Update – Week of 3/17

God of love, you love each of us at every moment of our lives,
Give us confidence in that love, and help us to love as you do.
As we listen to the needs around us with our physical ears, open the ears of our hearts to receive and respond to those who come to us in their time of need.
In your all-loving name, we pray.
Amen

Hello Parents,

Our desert adventures will take us to the Mojave Desert this coming week. We will study the animals and plants in this region.

OUR LENTEN JOURNEY: Our chart is starting to show a little more color. We have been praying for guidance to help us make better choices. We hope that your child’s chart at home is starting to fill up with color too.

Preschool Weekly Update – Week of 3/10

Almighty and ever living God,
you invite us deeper into your world, your people, your Lent.
May this time be one of outward focus;
seeking you in those we often ignore.
Help us live a Lent focused on freedom, generosity, and encounter.
Give us hearts hungry to serve you
and those who need what we have to give.

Dear Parents,

Our preschoolers had a very busy week with our Mardi Gras parade, Ash Wednesday Mass and First Friday Adoration. The first week of our desert exploration introduced us to the wild west and western wear. This coming week we will venture to the Sahara Desert.

Lenten Journey: Our Lenten journey has begun. The Good Deeds chart is up, we are fasting from our morning music videos and we are continuing our daily prayers. For another alms giving opportunity, we are sending home the “Rice Bowl” collection project in your family envelope.

Your child’s Preschool report card will go home today. Student’s developmental progress is assessed through a combination of classroom observations, curriculum projects, and peer interactions. We are happy to see their continued growth.

Have a restful weekend.

Peace, Ms. Grace and Miss Rosie

Preschool Weekly Update – Week of 3/3

The Lord is holy and kind.

Our God is full of tender love. – Psalm 116:5

Hello Parents,

We have completed our month long study of health and fitness. I know the preschoolers enjoyed this month’s projects and activities. They did a great job and they are looking forward to sharing their portfolios with you. On Monday, we will begin to explore our “Desert Discovery” curriculum. We will look at the wild west, Sahara Desert, Mojave Desert and desert night life.

As is our preschool tradition, on Tuesday, the preschoolers will celebrate Mardi Gras with a parade. We will begin around 10:30am at the Early Elementary wing, parade across the street and through the big school. When we return to the classroom we will celebrate with Shrove pancakes. These are plain pancakes with syrup. This is a pre-Lent celebration. We will attend all school mass on Ash Wednesday as a class. On Wednesday a “My Lenten Good Deeds Chart” will go home with directions. The preschool will have a class chart posted near the front door during Lent. This chart is to guide our preschoolers through Lent.

Have a great weekend!

Peace, Ms. Grace and Miss Rosie

Preschool Weekly Update Week of 2/24

Prayer for Pope Francis

ALL PRAISE AND GLORY IS YOURS, LORD OUR GOD, FOR YOU HAVE CALLED US TO SERVE. BLESS POPE FRANCIS, SO THAT HE MAY BEAR THE ILLNESS IN UNION WITH YOUR SON’S OBEDIENT SUFFERING. RESTORE HIM TO HEALTH AND LEAD HIM TO GLORY. WE ASK THIS THROUGH CHRIST OUR LORD. AMEN

Hello parents,

We hope you are enjoying the nice weather as much as our preschoolers. This week had some amazing projects go home. I for one have always loved the “heart” model. The children’s portfolios will be going home at the end of the week. We are sure that you will be impressed by your their work.

This week we also held our first “Community Meeting”. A community meeting is called when we have behavior in the classroom that needs to be addressed. This meeting gives each child a say in how they perceive the negative behavior, what would their parents do, and how could we fix the issue. This is a powerful tool for us. The children earned a “Honest” bracelet for their honest answers and together we came up with an action plan to help correct the behavior.

Have a restful weekend!

Peace, Ms. Grace and Miss Rosie

This coming week we will continue our “Health and Fitness” exploration. We have studied the 4 food groups, the importance of eating healthy foods and exercise.
