Preschool Weekly Update – Week of 2/3

Happy February!

Hello parents,

Amazing that January is over and we are heading into February!  The children’s, Going on Safari, portfolios were sent home yesterday.  Our portfolios give parents a glimpse of how their child is progressing in preschool.
On Monday we will start our February, Health and Fitness curriculum. Our “Education in Virtue” will focus on perseverance this month. This looks like, “Continue to try something even when it is hard ” and sounds like, “I am going to keep trying. I won’t give up”.

If your preschooler will be attending SPN Transitional -Kindergarten next year, the process to register is a little different. Here are some helpful tips.
When you fill out the Powerschool Application form it will ask if your child currently attends SPN.  They do not.  You will enter SPN Preschool when you write out their current school.  We do not use the Powerschool application process for our Preschool program. This process will register them with the “Big School”. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Ms.Mina in the school office

TK-Kindergarten Readiness Testing for preschool will be administered in the preschool classroom during regular school hours. No appointment is needed.

Miss Rosie and I want to thank you all for trusting us with guiding your beautiful children. We truly feel blessed and appreciated. Have a great weekend!

PeaceMs. Grace and Miss Rosie

Preschool Weekly Update – Week of 1/13

Dear Preschool Families,

This morning, during prayer we had a quiet moment for those who have been impacted by the horrific firestorms in Southern California. We thanked all the men and women who are risking their lives to bring an end to the fires.

Our class had an earthquake drill this morning. We did our “duck and cover” drill and then watched a Mystery Science video where Doug explained why the earth randomly moves. Your child’s play this weekend may have pretend “earthquake” drills in it and this is normal.

We completed the first week of “Safari on the Go”. We learned about the different tools you may need for a safari trip and animal habitat conservation. This coming week we will be exploring different animals and their habitats.

On Wednesday, January 15th is “Come and Play with TK & K”. Please see the school newsletter for registration. This is a great opportunity for parents and children to see the classroom and meet the teachers.

REMINDER: Friday, January 17th is a staff workday and there is no school for the children. Also, Monday, January 20th is a school holiday.

Have a restful weekend.

Peace, Ms. Grace and Miss Rosie

Preschool Weekly Update – Weeks 0f 12/23 – 12/30

In This Holy Season

Lord, in this holy season of prayer and song and laughter, we praise you for the great wonders you have sent us: for shining star and angel’s song, for infant’s cry in lowly manger. We praise you for the Word made flesh in a little Child. We behold his glory, and are bathed in its radiance.

Be with us as we sing the ironies of Christmas, the incomprehensible comprehended, the poetry made hard fact, the helpless Babe who cracks the world asunder. We kneel before you shepherds, innkeepers, wise men. Help us to rise bigger than we are. Amen. – Author Unknown

Dear Preschool Families,

Miss Rosie and I would like to thank you all for your kind words and lovely gifts. We are especially thankful for the gift of your children. It is an honor to guide them and watch them blossom. I will post an update with reminders and curriculum information before we return from our holiday break.

Peace, Ms. Grace and Miss Rosie

Preschool Weekly Update – Week of 12/16

O God, As we faithfully await the birth of your son, Jesus, Let us be glad and rejoice. In our families and our schools and in our lives, Help us to share the joy of Christ’s love with others. Amen

Dear preschool families,

We have enjoyed this months winter theme curriculum. Our classroom smelled like rosemary on Tuesday with the beautiful wreaths the children made in the Maker Space. Thank you Miss Kristen for leading us in this project. On Wednesday our classroom was filled with the scent of baked cookies, yum! Your children were reverent and respectful during our all school mass.

This coming week is busy with special events. We will watch the all school concert rehearsal. We have recorded our musical video and sent it to the broadcasting class. This short video is a preschool tradition. Our Christmas Mac and Cheese lunch will be on Thursday. See the flyer in your family envelope for details.

When we return from our Christmas break we will have a “No nut butter” policy. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Have a great weekend!

Preschool Weekly Update – Week of 12/9

“Dear Jesus, you entered our world on Christmas as the Prince of Peace. This Advent, as we strive to become the-best-version-of-ourselves, fill us with a deep and abiding peace” Amen

Hello preschool families,

Wow! What an interesting week. Your children did a great job during our “live” tsunami drill and confidently evacuated to the 2nd floor library. Today we were blessed with the “Friday Adoration” which gave us all a time to reflect and quietly be in the presence of God. We ended our day with the story of St. Nicholas and found a treat in our shoes after rest time!

This coming week we will continue our exploration of indoor and outdoor winter sights and sounds. The preschoolers have a class in the Maker Space and will attend, All School Mass, on Monday.

It is a tradition in the Preschool that the teachers host a “Mac and Cheese” lunch celebration. This year we are hosting this event on Dec. 19th during our regular scheduled lunch period. A flyer will go out in next week with details.

We are happy to announce that when we return from our Christmas break, Quinn and Santi will be joining our class!

Peace,

Ms. Grace and Miss Rosie

God of Love,
Your son, Jesus, is your greatest gift to us.

Generosity

We can offer our best without expecting anything in return.

Hello parents,

What a busy and productive week! Miss Rosie and I would like to thank you all for your participation in the Annual Fund. We had 100% participation and earned a pizza party with free dress!

Our “Socks for Veterans” service learning project was a success. This coming week the preschoolers will sort the socks by color and style. We will then count them up and post the final tally in the school newsletter. Thank you all for your support.

Our class would also like to thank the Nguyen family for donating their spare HP copier. We have so much to be thankful for.

We are sending home report cards today. Please sign the envelope on T1 and return it on Monday 11/18. Please keep your child’s report card for your records.

Have a great weekend.

Peace, Ms. Grace and Miss Rosie
