Broadcasting

Broadcasting is a very exciting elective that is offered at Saint Philip Neri. If your child is n our class please read below about what exciting lessons they will be learning.

Students will:

– Analyze film and be able to dictate angles, lighting, sound, special effects and more.
– Create and produce segments that will air for the entire school. Software to be used include: Imovie and Final Cut Pro
– Learn to use equipment such as video cameras, microphones, lighting and other equipment.
– Create set design for segments and more.
– Demonstrate proper interviewing techniques including proper interview etiquette, open/close ended questioning, lighting and more.
– Create personalized music using garage band.
– Using common core standards to create written proposals to begin filming.

Broadcasting will put on shows throughout the school year. Please look for segments of our broadcast on our homepage if you can’t attend the show. Also please look for info on this page for future showing time and dates.

Common core standards taught during elective are as follows:

Anchor Standard RL.CCR.1 Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text.

Grade Level Standard RL.8.1 Cite the textual evidence that most strongly supports an analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.

Anchor Standard RL.CCR.2 Determine central ideas or themes of a text and analyze their development; summarize the key supporting details and ideas.
